At Elephat, we are in charge of the whole product development process from design, material selection, prototyping to production.
(1) Free Hand Sketching フリーハンドスケッチ
Originally an outdoor enthusiast, our designer always explores new ideas from the user's perspective, beginning with the simple thought "Wouldn't it be great if we had something like this?" After establishing the basic concept and image, our designer creates a free-hand sketch and begins to think about the precise shape, structure, function, and so on.
The drawing is then digitally rendered to improve its accuracy. While hand-drawing tends to confine people to familiar perspectives and styles, computer rendering allows us to apply a wide range of styles to the product we want to build.
The designer independently develops a prototype model, selects fabrics and materials, determines sewing techniques, and more to check the parameters while doing quality assurance tests from all angles.
The designer then invites as many people as possible to look at the prototype and provide feedback. From there, he iteratively repeats prototyping, validation, and improvement. While creating products from the perspective of the user has been an important goal for the brand, if necessary, the designer will return to the beginning of the cycle to reconsider the product's design and direction.
